Lower electricity and gas costs for Wellington restaurants
Termina keeps Wellington restaurants on the lowest electricity and gas rate in the market, from one venue to a group, and it’s $0 to join.
What makes restaurant energy expensive in Wellington?
Long trading hours, gas in the kitchen and the wrong tariff. A restaurant’s bill is set by when it uses energy as well as how much.
Long trading hours
Cool rooms and fridges run all night, and service runs into the evening. A tariff built around office hours can be the wrong one for a venue.
Gas runs the kitchen
Cooktops, fryers and hot water often run on gas, and the gas contract gets less attention than the electricity. When it ends, it rolls onto whatever rate the retailer sets next.
Time of use and NHH sites price differently
A site with a time-of-use meter is priced on different terms from a non-half-hourly site. We price each site on the terms its meter allows.
Every bill checked line by line
Billing errors happen, and they are easy to miss across a busy month. Termina checks every line on every energy bill your Wellington restaurant receives, against your actual usage and the rates you are contracted to pay, so you only pay what is due.

You approve before anything changes

We keep you on the lowest rate
On small business plans we re-check your prices every month and switch you when there's something cheaper.
How do energy brokers get paid?
Most are paid a commission by the retailer that wins your contract, usually built into the rate you pay. Termina refuses retailer commissions; our only income is a share of the savings we find.

What do restaurant owners ask before joining?
How much does Termina charge a restaurant?
$0 to join. On small business plans, the only way we get paid is a share of what we save you, split 50/50. No saving, no fee. Our fee sits inside your rates. For large-market sites: No fee to run the tender. Once you switch, 1% of your bill (capped at $80 a month) plus 10% of what we save you.
Can one retailer cover all my venues?
It can, but one retailer is rarely the cheapest for every venue, because rates vary by network area and tariff. We price each venue on its own and keep every bill in one place on the platform.
I already use a broker. Can I still switch?
Yes. We check each venue’s contract end date and any exit fees before we recommend a move, so you know what leaving costs before you decide.
My energy contracts are still running. Is it worth joining now?
Yes. We record each venue’s contract end date, so nothing rolls onto a higher rate when a contract ends.
What if you can’t find a saving for a venue?
On small business plans, that venue pays nothing, and it stays in the review cycle for when the market moves. In New Zealand: if no better rate is found in 12 months, you get $100 off your next bill, in NZD.
Will my supply change when I switch retailer?
No. The energy, the meter and the network stay the same, and there is no break in supply. The retailer name on the bill is what changes.
