Our fees

What you pay, with worked examples

Termina has two fees, one for small business and one for large energy users. Both are set out here in numbers.

Small business

A share of what we save you, split 50/50. No saving, no fee. Our fee sits inside your rates rather than arriving as a separate bill.

Worked example

Save $10,000 a year and the saving is split 50/50: you keep $5,000, and our $5,000 sits inside your rates. Save nothing and you pay nothing.

Large energy users

No fee to run the tender. Once you switch, 1% of your bill (capped at $80 a month) plus 10% of what we save you.

Worked example

A site on a $20,000 monthly bill that saves $30,000 a year:

Bill fee: 1% is $200 a month, capped at $80, so $960 a year

Savings share: 10% of $30,000 is $3,000

Total fee: $3,960. You keep $26,040 of the $30,000.

The bill fee applies once you switch. Running the tender costs nothing.

How the savings share works

We only win when you do

Every other player in this market makes more when you pay more. Brokers take a cut from the retailer, so they can't be on your side. We refuse retailer commissions and earn only a share of what we save you. The only way we make money is by saving you money.

BrokersFollow the money
Paid by the retailer. They win whether you save or not.
Can't re-check. Broker agreements lock them in. They cannot re-check your rate every month.
Can't pool. One client, one deal, one commission. No way to bundle hundreds of business locations and negotiate as one.
Can't take your side. They are paid by the retailers. Taking your side means negotiating against the people who pay them.
Looking for savings
Only paid when you save. We only win when you do.
Tenders the entire retailer market, agnostic to who wins.
Pooled buying power. 10,000+ business locations, negotiated as one.
‍
Only ever your side. Because we refuse retailer commissions.

We are not a better broker. We are a different model: paid only when we save you money.

The best rate we can find, at tender

Multi-year and bespoke contracts mean a saving can't always be promised up front. What we commit to is the best rate available in the market at the time we go out for you.

Whole of market, commission-free

We compare across retailers and take no commissions, so the recommendation you get is yours, not theirs.

Audit-ready, not broker-ready

Bill-level, retailer-sourced data you can put in front of an auditor, with climate-related disclosures (XRB) reporting when you need it. One source of truth across every site, and it stays yours. We're an extension of your team

Questions, answered straight

What does Termina cost?

It's $0 to join. Small business pays a share of what we save you, split 50/50. No saving, no fee, and our fee sits inside your rates rather than arriving as a separate bill. Large energy users pay no fee to run the tender. Once you switch, 1% of your bill (capped at $80 a month) plus 10% of what we save you.

How does the savings share work?

Small business: save $10,000 a year and the saving is split 50/50: you keep $5,000, and our $5,000 sits inside your rates. Save nothing and you pay nothing. Large energy users: take a site on a $20,000 monthly bill that saves $30,000 a year. The bill fee is $960 a year (1% would be $200 a month, capped at $80), and 10% of the saving is $3,000. The total fee is $3,960, so you keep $26,040 of the $30,000. We measure savings against your current rate.

What if you can't save me anything?

On small business plans there's nothing to pay, and if no better rate is found in 12 months you get $100 off your next bill (in NZD). Large energy users pay no fee to run the tender, and the bill fee only applies once you switch.

Am I locked in?

No lock-in. Leave any time on variable plans. If a better rate turns up we'll move you across, or get out of your way.

Are there any hidden fees?

None. No upfront fee, no subscription and no retailer commissions. On small business plans you get one invoice per site each month, covering your supply and our service, with our fee inside your rates.
