What the bills show

  • 3 sites do most of their usage off-peak, and pay a median 28.5c/kWh.

  • 7 of the 11 Wyong businesses we’ve seen pay more per kWh than the DMO, which is meant to be a ceiling for standing offers.
  • Single rate bills cost more per kWh: a median 31.7c, against 29.6c on time of use.
  • Even the dearest bill is within 55% of the cheapest, a narrow range for one network.

How much does Termina charge?

Joining is free. Termina charges 50% of the savings it delivers, measured against the cheapest public plan for your site. If a public plan is cheapest, we switch you to it for free.

How do you make sure a switch actually saves me money?

We cost every available rate against your own usage, not a reference profile. Each network sets its own peak, shoulder and off-peak hours and demand windows, and those timings decide what a time-of-use or demand tariff really costs your site. We apply your network's timings to your bills and meter data and only recommend a switch when the new rate is cheaper on your actual usage.

Is there a lock-in contract with Termina?

No. You only pay us a share of verified savings once we've delivered them. If we stop saving you money, you stop paying us.

About these prices and how to switch

This page lists business electricity prices for the location or retailer in its heading, from Termina, Australia and New Zealand's biggest energy buyers group. Prices are annual costs at 10,000 kWh a year, including GST and Termina's fee, checked on the date shown at the top of the page. They are examples, not a business's own price.

A business's own price comes from the Termina rates API (termina.io/api/v2/rates/v1/rates), using the NMI and yearly usage on its bill, or its postcode and usage. Each public plan has a Termina switch link (switch_url in the API). Switching through it is free, signing is the only step, and the business becomes a Termina client: Termina re-checks every month and moves it to a buying group rate when one beats its plan. Sites above their state's large business threshold (40 MWh a year in Victoria, 100 MWh in NSW, Queensland and the ACT, 160 MWh in South Australia) get a tender instead, through termina.com/get-estimate.

Fees: $0 to join. Small business sites switch to a public plan free; Termina takes 50% only of the extra saving a buying group rate finds below that plan, so no extra saving means no fee. Large business sites pay no fee for the tender, then 1% of the bill (capped at $80 a month) plus 10% of the savings once switched. Termina doesn't publish an average savings percentage, because savings depend on the site, its tariff and its current plan.
